New Jersey is home to many thriving Irish communities. From Haddon Heights to Jersey City and everywhere in between, New Jersey is practically the Emerald Isle (they don’t call southern Monmouth County the Irish Riviera for nothing)!

There are so many fun festivities going on in New Jersey during the merry month of March. We’ve compiled a list of the best St. Patrick’s Day events in NJ. From all-day pub crawls to family-friendly parades, there are so many ways to celebrate Irish culture in NJ.

New Jersey knows how to party, and St. Paddy’s Day is no exception. Come March, these NJ towns are famous for hosting the best St. Paddy’s Day parties and pub crawls on the day of the parade.

1. Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day Celebration: The first Saturday in March means one thing in Hoboken, NJ: St. Patrick’s Day. This annual St. Paddy’s Day celebration kicks off at 10am and lasts as long as you do! Get your All Access Pass and save at least $5 on admission at all participating venues. Over 20 of Hoboken’s top-rated bars will be participating in the event. Visit Hoboken favorites such as Teak on the Hudson, The Shannon, Little Town Social and much more. On parade day, hundreds of revelers take to the streets for bar crawling fun.

2. The Atlantic City St. Patrick’s Day Parade: The first St. Patrick’s Day parade in Atlantic City was held in 1986 and attended by over 35,000 people. The tradition lives on as the parade enters its 31st year. This parade begins at 1pm just north of the Garden Pier, travels down the length of the Atlantic City boardwalk and ends on Albany Avenue. The parade isn’t the only thing happening in Atlantic City on St. Paddy’s Day weekend. During the parade weekend, there are so many bars and clubs offering fun events. Ri-Ra Irish Pub, Ducktown Tavern, and Irish Pub Atlantic City are just a handful of the many places to party in AC after the parade.

3. Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Even though the parade takes place on a Sunday afternoon, there is no doubt that people will be ready to party in Asbury Park. The parade kicks off at 1pm and heads south down Ocean Avenue before turning onto Cookman Avenue, through the heart of Asbury Park’s cultural district. The parade ends on Main Street. During the parade, check out some of Asbury Park’s best bars along the parade route, such as Johnny Mac House of Spirits, Bond Street Bar, Brick Wall Tavern, Asbury Ale House and Wonder Bar.

4. Belmar & Lake Como St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Between 50,000-100,000 people attend this St. Patrick’s Day parade every year. Now in its 42nd year, the Belmar & Lake Como St. Patrick’s Day parade has grown into one of the largest parades in New Jersey. The parade route circles around beautiful Lake Como and throughout Belmar. Popular Belmar, NJ bars like PK’s Shamrock Pub, Connolly Station, and Boathouse Bar & Grill will be open for parade day fun. As always, Bar Anticipation will be hosting their annual St. Patrick’s Day party. Don’t worry about driving and parking. Extra NJ Transit trains will be running for this immensely popular parade.

5. Ocean County St. Paddy’s Day Parade: The best St. Patrick’s Day parade on the Jersey Shore is ready for another year! Thousands of people flock to the shore to be part of this Ocean County parade held in Seaside Heights, NJ every year. This St. Patrick’s Day parade takes over the Boulevard and Ocean Avenue. The parade starts at noon, and the festivities continue well after the last bagpipe has blown. Great bars like Captain Hook’s, Hemingway’s Cafe and Beachcomber Bar & Grill will be offering great drink specials and a fun place to party before, during and after the parade.

1) Somerville St. Patrick’s Day Parade: This Central NJ St. Patrick’s Day parade promises to be fun for the whole family. This free event aims to provide wholesome family fun on a day when Irish eyes are smiling even brighter. Stepping off at 1:30pm Somerville, NJ, families can watch the floats and listen to the pipes and drums march down Main Street.

2) Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Only in its fourth year, this parade is small but spirited. The Rumson St. Patrick’s Day parade will start on 1st St. and River Rd., and end at the intersection of Carton St. and Forrest Ave. The parade is approximately one mile long and will last an hour and a half. This is a perfect St. Patrick’s Day parade for families with small children. It promises to be a fun-filled day of marching bands, floats and classic cars.

3) Nutley St. Patrick’s Day Parade: The Nutley Irish American Alliance is proud to sponsor the 38th St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade day will begin with an Investiture Mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10am. The parade will step off at 1pm on Franklin Ave. Come out for a fun day of celebrating Irish heritage and culture in Northern NJ.

4) American Irish of Woodbridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade: To kick off the day, there will be a flag raising ceremony at Woodbridge Town Hall at 9am. The parade steps off at 1:30pm at Woodbridge High School, and ends at the town hall. There will be prizes for best high school band, best color guard, best teen performance, best cheerleading squad, most novel float, best in parade and more! Show your Irish pride at one of the best St. Paddy’s Day parades in Central NJ.

5) South Amboy St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Enjoy an afternoon of Irish fun at the South Amboy St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade has a strict zero-tolerance policy, and anyone obviously under the influence of alcohol is asked not to participate. Come out to see the amazing floats and bands march through South Amboy, NJ. This parade promises to be a family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day event.

Morris County St Patricks Day Parade Biggest St Patricks Day Parades in New JerseyCelebrate New Jersey’s proud Irish heritage
A bad St. Paddy’s Day parade? No such thing! Any chance to show your Irish pride is a good one. What better way to do so than by attending one of New Jersey’s larger St. Patrick’s Day parades?

1) Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade: The Morris County St. Patrick’s Day parade has been a tradition in this Northern NJ county for over 35 years. Morris County is proud of its Irish community and takes its parade day very seriously. Each year, between 50,000-80,000 people show their Irish pride at this parade. This year is a special year for the parade. The Trustees of the parade have re-elected Parade Treasurer John Hyland to be this year’s Grand Marshal. He was elected last year, but was unable to march due to his battle with cancer. Now in remission, the parade committee is honored to have him lead one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day parades in NJ.

2) The Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade: This year marks the 54th annual Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The festivities usually feature around 20 bands, five floats and over 50 contingents marching. The parade route extends from Lincoln Park and ends in Journal Square. Jersey City has a large Irish population, and people of all nationalities love coming out and celebrating Ireland.

3) Bergen County St. Patrick’s Day Parade: The Council of Irish Associations of Greater Bergen County is one of the driving forces behind Northern NJ’s Irish Community. Their mission is to foster and promote the traditions of Ireland and Irish America in language, history, music, dance, theatre, prose, poetry, sports and the arts. This organization was formed over 40 years ago as a way to unite the many Irish groups and clubs of the greater Bergen County area. They are active in promoting many Irish events in Bergen County throughout the year. Their biggest endeavor is the annual Bergen County St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

4) The Newark Parade: This is one of the longest-running St. Patrick’s Day parades in New Jersey. This year marks the 81st year for The Newark Parade. Keep the tradition alive by wearing green on the streets of Newark as the parade passes by. Stepping off at the Prudential Center, this parade is one of the grandest celebrations of Irish heritage in New Jersey.

5) The Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Now celebrating its 13th anniversary, the Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is ready for another fun-filled year of festivities. Not only does the parade committee promote Irish history and culture in the Sussex County community, but proceeds from the parade are shared with various charities, chosen by the Grand Marshal.
